A Hilliard food pantry is picking up the pieces following a blaze that took place yesterday afternoon.

The fire, which started at approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, broke out at Life Community Church, which is located at 4400 Cemetery Rd. in Hilliard.

According to multiple social media statements, the fire primarily damaged the Hilliard Food Pantry warehouse, which abuts the Life Community Church building and is located at 4410 Cemetery Rd. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.

“Today, July 9th the warehouse adjoining the pantry had a fire. No one was hurt. This fire destroyed the warehouse (where we store things) and caused water and smoke damage in the pantry,” a statement from the Hilliard Food Pantry reads. “All food is damaged and cannot be distributed. Consequently, we are a pantry without food.”

The pantry will be closed until further notice. You can follow its Facebook page to stay current on reopening news. The Hilliard Food Pantry also created a fundraiser to help offset the costs of the fire. You can make a donation here.

“Lastly, we are certain we will have costs associated with the fire. Any help you can give is much appreciated,” the statement reads.
