A proposal to legalize recreational marijuana will be on Ohio ballot

This fall, Ohio voters will be able to determine whether or the state should legalize recreational marijuana, according to an Associated Press report.

Yesterday, the proposal was cleared to appear on the ballot across Ohio after the state Senate failed to act on it.

The Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol secured enough signatures to put the item on the Nov. 7 ballot in Ohio.

Last month, the Coalition originally submitted less than the required number of signatures, and were given ten days to gather to collect the appropriate number. According to the AP report, they collected more than 4,000 additional signatures in that time.

Individuals 21 and older will be able to legally possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, with a 10% tax being imposed on all recreational marijuana purchases. Adults 21 and older will be able to grow their own plants as well.
