See where Columbus ranks in ‘U.S. News & World Reports’ list of best cities in the country to live

While The Arch City came in below a pair of other Ohio cities, it did crack a list of the country’s top 150 cities to live from “U.S. News & World Reports.”

The list, which compiles the country’s most liveable cities for 2023-2024, placed Cincinnati as the state’s top city at number 50, followed by Youngstown at number 62. 

Columbus was ranked just above the list’s midpoint, as the 69th best city in the country to live.

“U.S. News & World Reports” utilized a “comprehensive” ranking system to order every city mentioned. Each municipality was given a score throughout six categories (Desirability, Value, Job Market, Quality of Life and Net Migration), these sub-scores were weighted and then averaged to generate each city’s total score.

Using this system, Columbus was given an overall score of 6.3, with the following scores in each individual category:

Desirability: 5.2
Value: 7.1
Job Market: 6
Quality of Life: 6.6
Net Migration: 5.6

Columbus ranked just below Indianapolis, Indiana and just above Peoria, Illinois. Other Ohio cities on the list include Toledo (84), Cleveland (97) and Dayton (141).
