Man robs Ohio grocery store with underwear on his head

A Kentucky man is in custody after allegedly robbing a Stout, Ohio grocery store with underwear on his head over the weekend.

According to a press release from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, 30 year-old Davonta Edward Mitchell of Paducah, Kentucky was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with aggravated robbery, felony theft, kidnapping and grand theft auto in connection to a robbery that occurred that same evening.

According to the press release, just after 9 p.m. on Feb. 4, officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress at Shawnee Grocery Store, which is located at 721 U.S. Highway 52 in Stout, Ohio. The caller told police that an individual with underwear on his head was pointing a gun at the clerk, demanding the money in the cash register.

 After responding and gathering a vehicle description, police discovered that the suspect was driving a car believed to have been recently stolen from an Auto Zone in Portsmouth, Ohio.

According to the press release, an Adams County police officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car. The vehicle was then stopped by officers and Mitchell, who was driving, was arrested. The stolen money, robbery weapon and underwear allegedly used to cover Mitchell’s face were found inside the car.
