Police searching for man with giant stuffed animal following east side robbery

Police are hoping to question an individual captured on camera toting an enormous teddy bear for their potential involvement in an armed robbery. 

According to Columbus Police, officers responded to the 6500 black of East Broad Street just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 due to a robbery. Two individuals were sitting in a parked car while they witnessed an unknown individual break into one of their vehicles, which was parked nearby. 

The vehicle’s owner exited her friend’s car and attempted to retrieve her purse from the suspect, who flashed a firearm at her, causing the victims to flee.

Approximately 20 minutes later, an unidentified man attempted to use the victim’s credit card at the Whitehall Wal-Mart location, but the card was declined.

Shortly afterwards, the individual was captured leaving the store with a large stuffed animal, which police provided a surveillance photo of. No further details were made available.
