A hip Franklinton spot is putting the pieces back together after a recent burglary.

Makers Social, the unique Columbus bar that doubles as a DIY craft spot, was the victim of a break-in around 4 a.m. yesterday morning, owner Meg Pando told 614Now.

According to surveillance video clips Pando shared, an individual shattered the bar’s glass door with what appears to be a small hammer or mallet. She added that the tool used looked a bit familiar, as well.

“The mallet they used looks identical to the ones we offer at Makers as one of the tools, so there’s a chance it could’ve been a prior customer,” she said. “The mallets we use are very specific.”

While this may aid the investigation, Pando said there are still a few factors that could act as roadblocks.

“Unfortunately, you can’t see a face in any of the footage,” she said, “But we do have footage of the person riding a bike around the neighborhood before it happened.  This way, we can keep an eye out and see if it’s someone who lives in the area.”

You can watch both videos here.

It appears the burglar only stole bottles of liquor from the Franklinton bar. Pando noted that the destruction of the door will likely be a greater expense, however.

After boarding up the door, Makers Social was able to reopen yesterday, and is now operating  on its regular hours
