Learn which Columbus-area resident cracked annual ‘Forbes’ list of world’s richest
“Forbes” recently published its recurring “Forbes Billionaire’s List: The Richest in 2023,” and while only one Columbus-area resident made the list, he did so as one of the world’s 500 richest people.
If you haven’t already guessed, the person in question is Les Wexner (technically Les Wexner and family, according to “Forbes”), whose retail empire is worth an estimated $6 billion.
This ranks Wexner and family as the 425th richest in the world.

A trio of Cleveland-based individuals, August, Nancy and Norma Lerner each boast a $1.1 billion net worth, according to Forbes. The three are the widow and children (respectively) of Cleveland’s Al Lerner, former board chair of credit card giant MNC Financial and a one-time owner of the Cleveland Browns.
The Lerners are one of several others who shared 2,405th place on the list.
In case you were curious, according to “Forbes,” neither Jeff Bezos nor Elon Musk currently are considered the world’s richest. Instead, that title goes to Bernard Arnault, the man behind the LVMH “empire” of 75 different beauty and fashion brands. According to the list, Arnault is worth $211 billion.
