Columbus developer provides update on the opening of newest Lucky’s Market

Sav McKee

Columbus is about to get a whole lot luckier next summer.

Construction for the anticipated Lucky’s Market at the Thurber Village redevelopment has officially started. Local developer, CASTO, is collaborating with Lucky’s for an expected opening in the summer of 2024.

This 21,000 square foot location will house all of the favorites you can find at the High St., location, like their farmers market-style produce, natural and organic foods, and homemade baked goods. In addition, this new location will feature an extensive beer, wine, cocktail, and seltzer options, with a focus on local Midwest favorites.

“We look forward to opening our doors to our future neighbors and the surrounding community…My family is in our 5th generation of ownership, we all live in Ohio and are made up of Buckeye alumni and former Columbus residents. This store will be the latest addition to our growing family of locally owned and operated grocery stores in Ohio,” said Aaron Saltzman, Vice President of Lucky’s Market.

The Saltzmans, the long-time owners of Dave’s Markets, obtained ownership of Lucky’s Markets in April 2020. They’re proud of their family businesses that still operate under 3 active generations.

This Collins Ave. and Neil Ave. development, called Thurber Village, began the process of demolishing existing buildings in October 2022, and then moved onto the construction of a freestanding CVS location, which is anticipated for an opening later this summer.

The Saltmanz family emphasized, “We are committed to providing our customers with the freshest, highest quality products and services, and we believe that this new store will be a great addition to the community. We have more details to come in the months ahead…but for now, we are getting to work!”
