Owner of exotic pet store and custom wood shop lose home in fire; Here’s how to help

Jack McLaughlin

The owners of a Mansfield-area pet store have lost their home—and unfortunately many of their pets—in a tragic fire.

According to social media posts from the business and a GoFundMe account set up for them by a family friend, the home of the owners of Kars Specialty Reptile & Ranch, Stumps Aquatic and Exotic Pets and Stumps Custom Wood (all three of which are located in the Mansfield area) was lost to a fire earlier this week.

“On the evening of December 19, 2023, around 6 pm, their cherished home, which housed not only their family but also countless pets, was engulfed in flames. The fire mercilessly claimed all of their possessions and, heartbreakingly, the lives of many of their beloved animal companions,” the GoFundMe page reads.
