Piglets loose on Dayton-area highway ramp causes closures

highway ramp in the Dayton area closed over the weekend due to escaped piglets.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, piglets escaped near the interchange between I-75 north and I-70 north of Downtown Dayton. The animals escaped after a semi-truck overturned just before 8 p.m., and the ramp from I-75 North onto I-70 West was temporarily closed.

Ohio Highway Patrol said the vehicle was carrying approximately 1,900 piglets, but it’s unclear how many escaped onto the highway. 

Emergency crews and members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and began rounding up many of the escaped animals. It’s not currently known how many piglets were captured by responding crews.
