The Empire State Building changed colors for an hour in honor of Columbus last weekend; Here’s why

As you may or may have heard, the Columbus Crew has won the MLS Championship.

After defeating the Los Angeles Football Club at Lower.com Field on Dec. 9–one week after toppling Cincinnati in the semifinals (and the ever-popular Hell is Real match), the Crew has brought the MLS Cup back to Columbus.

The Crew won the match 2-1.

And the most iconic, building in the New York City skyline has given the Arch City’s team a nod.

According to the official Instagram account of the Empire State Building, the skyscraper featured a back and yellow light display to honor the Crew.

“Shining for the @ColumbusCrew for the next hour in honor of their MLS Cup victory,” the building’s Instagram post reads.
