Midwest is best, and Realtor’s latest “Hottest Zip Codes of 2023” release proves this sentiment – none other than Gahanna, Ohio is in the #1 spot, and nine other Ohio cities made it in the top 50.

Realtor.com’s Hottest Zip Code rankings are generally based on two aspects of the housing market. First, they take into account market demand, measured by unique viewers per property on Realtor.com. They also look at the pace of the market as measured by the number of days a listing remains active on Realtor.com.

According to their website, Gahanna has a high demand from buyers, fast-selling homes, and limited supply. There’s a homeownership rate of 60%, and more than a quarter of its home-owner population is in the 25-34 age frame, “suggesting the area may be favorable for young renters along with its popularity among buyers,” says their website.

The study pointed out that on average, the hottest zips have a homeownership rate of 76.7%, and since Gahanna is below the national average, there’s an indication that this Columbus metropolitan suburb could be a hotspot for home renters.

Gahanna Mayor Laurie Jadwin said, “This ranking is an incredible testament to the high quality of life that Gahanna offers. As a city, we are focused on providing a safe community, delivering quality services, and fostering a welcoming community that promotes connectivity. This designation reaffirms that Gahanna is a top tier and highly desirable community within the ever-growing Columbus Region.”

In the list of 50 “Hot Zip Codes,” other Ohio cities include:
#15: Dayton
#18: Toledo
#27: Mount Vernon
#29: Ashland
#31: Mansfield
#37: Wooster
#39: Chillicothe
#43: Medina
#48: Cincinnati
