Three Ohio cities make new list of country’s most rat-infested

Rats. We mean that both literally and rhetorically.

Orkin’s yearly list of the country’s most rat-infested cities was just released, and it doesn’t look good for Ohio. Unless you like rats, that is.

This year, Cleveland was ranked as the country’s 11th most rat-infested city, which was actually three spots lower than it came in at last year. Likewise, Cinncinati saw a fairly dramatic drop from the 27th rattiest city to the 31st.

Columbus, on the other hand, moved up three spots from its position last year. According to Orkin’s list— which is based on the number of new rodent treatment services performed in each metropolitan area from Sept. 1, 2022-Aug. 31, 2023—Columbus is the country’s 18th most rat-infested city.

Chicago (which held last year’s top spot as well), New York and Los Angeles are the top three cities on Orkin’s list.
