While it’s likely no two days are ever the same for Columbus Police officers, it’s especially unlikely they’ll be getting a call that involves an emu again anytime soon.

According to Columbus Police, yesterday a local emu (named Big Bird), escaped into a farm field located near the corner of Norton Road and Alkire Road.

Bodycam footage was posted to the Columbus Division of Police Twitter account that depicts an officer chasing after big bird with a catch pole.

After evading the officer several times, Bird Bird was eventually captured with the help of officers and several citizens. The bird was then loaded onto what appears to be a stretcher for transportation.

You can watch the video here.

According to Police, the emu was moved to a local animal sanctuary and is unharmed.
