The COSI Science Festival is just around the corner, and this means a nearly-endless supply of science-based fun for your little ones.

With events like bagel making and exploring local Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, there are endless ways to make learning fun at the upcoming event. Here are a few of our favorites.

How to Make a Bagel!

May 4, free

Not only will everyone learn a bit of the science behind cooking and bagel-making, this event, held at Fox’s Bagel & Deli, even gives participants a chance to try their own creations.

Stream Exploration in the Big Darby Creek: Plain City

May 3, free

Alongside Ohio State scientist Brian Zimmerman, kids and adults alike are invited to get in the water of Big Darby Creek to take in a demonstration about the creek’s unique ecosystem. You’ll also learn the signs of a healthy creek and how to protect waterways.

Maker Mania on The Lawn at CAS

From drone-flying to nature-based adventures, this engaging array of STEM activities will be more than enough to keep your little ones occupied, and they’ll probably learn a few important things along the way.

Science of Ice Cream

When ice cream is included, everyone is interested. This event, hosted by the Reynoldsburg Department of Parks and Recreation, will dive into the science behind the popular dessert, and offer up a few samples for visitors as well.

From the water to the wilderness, here’s another family-friendly outdoor event that will allow you and the kids to take in the natural world. The 1.5-mile hike will take visitors through prime birding spots, and offers great views of spring flowers in bloom.
