Reports: Michigan football coach facing possible suspension over ‘’Burgergate’ investigation

Jack McLaughlin

According to  multiple reports (although first reported by Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports), Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh could end up missing a chunk of the 2023 football season.

According to the story, Harbaugh is currently working with NCAA officials to reach a negotiated resolution that would see him suspended for the first four games of the 2023 season (instead of a possible six games). At the time this story was published, the agreement had not been officially announced and is not thought to be finalized yet.

The potential suspension would be due to Harbaugh allegedly not admitting he lied to NCAA investors, who were looking into an incident when Harbuagh supposedly had an unauthorized meeting with recruits at an Ann Arbor restaurant back in 2020. The incident is now more-colloquially referred to as “‘Burgergate.”

In case you’re curious, the first our games of Michigan’s season will all be played at home, and against non-conference opponents.

They’ll be facing off against East Carolina (Sept. 2), UNLV (Sept. 9), Bowling Green (Sept. 16) and Rutgers (Sept. 23).
