This new coffee shop is centered around kids; offers story time, games, and a kid’s drink menu

Anyone with children probably knows the feeling – you walk into a coffee shop in hopes of a latte for yourself and a hot cocoa for your little one, and there’s a long line awaiting you before you can even order. Your child is getting antsy, and maybe talking a little loudly (like most kids do!) while the adults in the coffee shop are trying to converse with each other, study, or work.

Although bringing your child to a coffee shop is something to never feel ashamed of, it can still maybe feel like you’re causing a nuance. Westerville’s newest coffee shop, Family Room Coffee and Bake Shop, wants to ensure that you never feel that way again.

This new coffee shop, located at 545 S. Otterbein Ave., is putting family and children first and foremost. It opened in November, and since then, they’ve offered cookie decorating parties, preschool story hour, family bingo nights, craft nights, puzzle days, paint and sips, and of course – excellent coffee. There’s also shelves chocked full of games and books.

Most importantly, part of their mission is never having to wait in line for your coffee. At Family Room, you can order from home and swing by to pick it up, and you can even walk inside, take a seat on their cozy couches and chairs, and place your order through the app. You can order right there at the shop through a cashier, too, but they want to give the option of not having to wait in a 10-person-deep line. Oh, and they also deliver their beverages and treats to your door, if you want that, too.

Family Room boasts handcrafted drinks with high quality ingredients, as well as cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, and cookies, and they also have quality internet if you want to get some work done. They also have exclusive kids’ drink menus, with fun concoctions like a bright pink Cozy Unicorn, featuring warm, creamy milk mixed with strawberry syrup, topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
