Five Pumpkin – themed festivals to help you welcome the fall season
The season is upon us.
The leaves are changing colors, coffee orders are going from iced to hot and sweater weather is back. As you step over the threshold into fall, here are just some of the festivities that involve the most notable fruit of the season – pumpkin.
Pumpkin Fest at Pigeon Roost Farm, Hebron
With wagon rides, barnyard animals, and a pumpkin patch, Pigeon Roost Farms is open Sept. 14 – October 31 providing their 44th year of seasonal fun. The farm will also feature a children’s fun center, a corn maze, a concession stand and various produce available for purchase. Open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., admission is free for children under 2 and $11 for ages 2 and up.
Jack Pine Glass Pumpkin Fest, Hocking Hills
This pumpkin–themed fest is guaranteed to take place Sept. 20 – 22, rain or shine. The Jack Pine Studio offers its own twist to the classic orange fruit. While attendees can still explore the pumpkin patch, it will be entirely made up of glass blown pumpkins in different shapes, colors and sizes. Admission is free with kids activities, food vendors and various sculptures also available at the festival site.

Ohio Gourd Show, Delaware
Held Oct. 4 – 6 , this celebration is all about gourds, gourds and…gourds! Educational workshops and arts and crafts will be available to demonstrate gourd history and origin. Food and vendors will also be featured and while admission is free, registration on the festival’s website is encouraged.
Pumpkin Fest Day, Milford Center
Taking place in the MAiZE at Little Darby Creek, this festival welcomes the season with pumpkins, gourds and various other fall goods. Activities such as balloon twisting and face painting will be available, alongside the farm’s year–round amenities. Occurring Oct. 6, 1 – 4 p.m., admission into the farm grounds will also grant admission to the festival space.
Circleville Pumpkin Show, Circleville
One of the most notable pumpkin shows in Ohio, this event will feature a plethora of activities such as competitions, parades, fair rides, food vendors, carnival games and more! The festival will take place Oct. 16 – 19, with free admission for all attendees. Registration for events, competitions and the parade can be found on the show’s official website.
