Thousands of rubber ducks to race down 300-foot slip and slide–with $3,000 on the line

Get ready to waddle your way into fun!

Hosted by Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Columbus Duck Race will return for its 13th year of festivities on July 20th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Riverside Crossing Park.

Although the official duck race will take place at 12:30 p.m., the event will feature all-ages activities and a chance to meet Quackers, Nationwide’s friendly, duck mascot.

Competing with their rubber peers, ducks will race along a 300-foot slip and slide, with the fastest three named as victors. First–place prize stands at $3,000, second–place at $2,000 and third–place at $1,000. 

Each year, the event also features a Patient Champion who presents the prizes to the race winners, with this year’s title going to 13-year-old Payton. Overcoming battles with heart conditions such as ASD, VSD and Pulmonary Valve Stenosis – she’s not only earned the title of “heart warrior”, but also a chance to carry on the duck race tradition. 

Ducks can be purchased individually for $10 or can be bought in “families” starting at 3 ducks for $25 all the way to 100 ducks for $50. All proceeds and donations will help fund pediatric research at Nationwide. 

The Duck Race will also be present at several farmers-markets in cities such as Dublin, Bexley and Clintonville will rubber-ducks and merchandise for purchase – welcoming any–and–everyone to put a metaphorical webbed–foot in the water.
