After two decades, local retail store closes last remaining locations

Sav McKee

In 2006, Stuart Hunter founded a local business to help get Columbus moving in style. Roll Bicycle Co. quickly gained momentum, and four stores opened throughout central Ohio, selling chic bicycle equipment and accessories, such as road bikes, electric bikes, bike shoes, lighting, and even wheels.

However, now, all four stores are officially closed:

  • 709 Worthington Rd., Westerville
  • 317 W. Bridge St., Dublin
  • 1510 W. Lane Ave., Upper Arlington
  • 2468 E. Main St., Bexley

In a statement posted on Roll’s website, Hunter said, “There are many factors that coincided to bring us to the difficult decision to close our doors, but one thing is certain. The bicycle business is really challenging right now, particularly for independent local retails.”

He continued, “On behalf of our entire roll: team, both past and present, I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It’s been a honor to ride, wrench, to learn, and to support one another over so many amazing adventures, and wonderful years. I’ll forever be grateful for the experience. Thank you for everything, and we’ll see you out there!”
