Columbus’ only ‘Tool Library’ closing temporarily, but with no reopening date in sight
A nonprofit organization known for helping Columbus residents with home maintenance and improvements by lending them tools, all at a low cost is closing, temporarily at least.
Modcon Living’s “Tool Library,” which partnered with the City of Columbus, allowed Columbus residents to rent hundreds of tools that would otherwise be too expensive to outright purchase.
At the Tool Library, you could rent air compressors like you would a book with your membership, or a ⅜ drill, a lawnmower, vacuum cleaners, or pretty much any tool you could need for your home, for up to 21 days.
But now, that may be over.

“Due to budgetary & scheduling constraints, the Tool Library will be temporarily closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope & expect this closure to be as short as possible, but currently do not have a reopen date scheduled,” Modcon posted on their Facebook.
This comes at a time where many Columbus residents start to work on their houses and lawns for spring cleaning, relying solely on Tool Library’s accessible tool-lending program.
