Smoked wings, cold beer, and pickleball – a trio you really can’t find on the tennis courts-converted-to-pickleball-courts in Schiller Park and Whetsone, unless you bring your own. But you’ll be able to enjoy all of that, and so much more, all in one place starting in the summer of 2025.

Smash Park, the self-proclaimed “eatertainment destination” with roots in Minnesota and Iowa, is bringing their outdoor and indoor recreational concept to Westerville at the Southeast corner of Polaris Parkway and Cleveland Avenue, known as Westerville’s Westar Place District.

They must have caught on that central Ohio is obsessed with pickleball. “We carefully consider each new location, and the Columbus metro is a diverse and active community, perfectly suited for the booming sport of pickleball and our other social offerings,” said Smash Park CEO Monty Lockyear in a press release. “The community has been so welcoming, and we can’t wait to bring our unique mix of food, drinks, entertainment and recreation to Westerville and the surrounding area.”

The Smash Park venue will boast 30,000+ square feet of indoor space for pickleball courts, a full-service restaurant with craft food and drinks, a 21-and-over “Paddle Club” axe-throwing space, duckpin bowling, and two private karaoke “Sing Suites.” As if that wasn’t enough, it will also feature more than 100 HDTVs for sports watching parties.

Outside, you’ll find 15,000 square feet of pickleball courts, outdoor shuffleboard, bocce ball, yard games, plus a dog-friendly outdoor patio and a rooftop bar.

If you have that competitive edge in your blood, you can join a weekly league for pickleball, cornhole, darts, duckpin bowling, and axe-throwing. There will also be trivia, themed tournaments, and Brunch Bingo. Oh, and glow in the dark pickleball and dodgeball.

We’ll definitely see you there.
