This Ohio city was ranked by ‘Forbes’ as one of the most educated cities in the U.S.

Pierogies are not only delicious, but apparently, good brain fuel, too.

Forbes recently compiled their list of the nation’s “Most Educated Cities,” basing their rankings on highest concentration of college graduates, high school dropout rates, graduate degree attainment rates, and gender and racial gaps in degree completion rates. 

Turns out, one of Ohio’s own is very high on this list of 100 cities.

Cleveland ranked the 8th most educated city in the U.S.! Here’s some statistics about The Land via Forbes:

  • Cleveland has a high school dropout rate of 5.26% for residents aged 18 and older
    • This is significantly lower than Milwaukee, WI, the least educated city, which has a dropout rate of 21.29%
  • 21.6% of Cleveland residents aged 25 and older have some college education without a degree, showing an engagement with higher education
  • 43.83% of Cleveland’s residents aged 25 or older hold a bachelor’s degree
  • 17.94% of residents in Cleveland aged 25 or older have a graduate degree
  • Cleveland’s absolute value gender gap in educational attainment is 0.46%

“Known as the Home of Rock and Roll, Cleveland is also one of the smartest cities in America. With one of the lowest high school dropout rates (just 5.26%), 43.83% of Cleveland adults hold bachelor’s degrees, while 17.94% hold graduate degrees,” said Forbes. “Cleveland also has one of the narrowest racial gaps when it comes to bachelor’s degrees, with just -4.58% separating white and non-white adults.”
