614 feast picks his 5-favorite summer pizzas in Columbus

Anthony O'Connell

The Best Summer Pizzas in Columbus. Whether it’s the BLT sandwich transformed into a pizza, a medley of fresh vegetables, the irresistible flavor of Buffalo chicken, or even a standout vegan option, these summer pies are sure to satisfy. Here are five of my top picks to eat in the heat.

East Coast Pizzeria (5060 N. High St.)

The bacon lettuce tomato sandwich is iconic, and having it in pizza form is a major feast. The East Coast B.L.T features hand-tossed, brick-fired pizza with a delicious golden crust, mozzarella topped with crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a delightful drizzle of mayonnaise.

Borgata Pizza Cafe (multiple locations)

I’ve been trying to eat more vegetables this summer, and Borgata’s Mediterranean Roasted Vegetable pizza makes that a lot easier. It’s loaded with mozzarella, roasted eggplant, zucchini, caramelized onions, roasted garlic, red peppers, and fresh spinach, making it a more nutrient-dense choice. Enjoy this New York style pizza made from scratch at their Worthington location or Budd Dairy Food Hall.

Aracri Pizzeria (51 E. Gay St.)

Feel the summer sizzle with Aracri’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It has a subtle spice and tons of flavor. Their New York style pies are phenomenal with a thin, slightly chewy and crunchy crust that’s perfectly salted. It’s summer, so why not take your Buffalo chicken slice for a dip in ranch dressing?

4th & State (152 E State St.)

Vegan bbq chick’n pizza is a game changer. It has a mozzarella base, red onion, and BBQ tossed tempeh chick’n with ranch drizzle and green onion. The mozzarella stuffed crust is light and fluffy. This vegan pizza can hold its own against any of these traditional pizzas.

Grandad’s Pizza (multiple locations)

Hawaiian Pizza can be polarizing, and admittedly, it’s not normally my go-to. But when the summer heat rolls in, there’s something refreshing about pineapple on pizza. At Grandad’s, their Hawaiian Pizza has a perfectly thin crust topped with ham, juicy pineapple, almonds, and a hint of cinnamon. It’s a tasty combination that brings a tropical twist to your summer dining experience.
