One of central Ohio’s oldest ice cream shops has a whole lot of new real estate on the horizon.

Since 2024 began, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has announced a whopping four new locations. Yesterday, it revealed plans for its newest storefront, which will be located in Powell and will likely open in the early spring of 2025.

The new Johnson’s will be located at 4290 Home Rd. The 1,400 square foot store will feature a covered outdoor patio and the concept’s “timeless charm.”

Founded in Bexley in 1950, Johnson’s has also launched new locations in Canal Winchester, Grandview and Italian Village this year. Johnson’s, which also operates locations in Bexley, Dublin and New Albany, will have seven storefronts once it opens in Powell.

“Bringing Johnson’s Real Ice Cream to Powell represents a significant milestone in our growth,” Matt Wilcoxon, the fourth-generation owner of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, said in a press release. “As we celebrate 75 years and expand our presence, our commitment remains steadfast: to honor our great-grandpa Johnson by crafting quality ice creams that bring people together.”

According to a press release from Johnson’s, the Powell store may not be the only new location of next year either.

“As Johnson’s Real Ice Cream prepares for this exciting new chapter, fans should keep an eye out for more announcements in regards to 2025, as the company hints at future growth beyond Powell,” the press release reads.
