After 2.5 month delay, popular family-owned Mexican restaurant opens this week

A family-owned business has been making waves in Columbus ever since they first opened in 2015, quickly becoming a city-wide staple known for their fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine and margaritas.

Initially announcing they’d be opening on July 15, the local, family-owned Mexican restaurant chain, Habanero’s Fresh Mexican Grill, is moving right on into the former Old Bag of Nails space, located at 4416 N. High St. Their new grand opening is officially tomorrow, October 2nd, at 11am.

Old Bag of Nails abruptly closed this space in May of last year. “We’re really excited to be on that side of town,” an Habanero’s spokesperson told 614Now.

This new addition to Clintonville marks Habanero’s fourth location throughout central Ohio, with two in Hilliard and one in Grandview. The popular restaurant chain, which first took off in Hilliard, specializes in authentic Mexican street tacos, plus speciality tequila and mezcal infused drinks. Other authentic Mexican fare includes tamales, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, and because this is Columbus after all, they even offer an assortment of hot chicken wings.

Starting tomorrow, you’ll be able to sip margaritas out on their renovated patio from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. They close at 9 p.m. on Sundays.

Congrats, Habanero’s!
