After 6 years, New Orleans-inspired restaurant closed, hopes to relocate

“It’s time to say farewell,” said a beloved local spot known for their seafood gumbo, catfish po’boys and crawfish étouffée.

Way Down Yonder, which opened 6 years ago at 3847 S. High St., has officially closed up shop as of yesterday, September 22. According to a statement posted on their Facebook, the building has sold.

But their journey doesn’t end there. “We will continue our journey on our food truck until we move into our bigger and better location. And also we will keep y’all posted on our food truck locations as well as our new location. Thank y’all for all your wonderful support,” the restaurant said.

In the meantime, you can show support to the owners by visiting their New Orleans-inspired beignets & coffee shop, called Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee, located at 386 E. Main St.
