Alcohol-free bar and arcade opening this week

With the Dry Mill—the city’s only alcohol-free bar—shuttering in early 2023, central Ohio has been primed for another booze-free hangout spot to hit the scene.

And now it’s here.

A new, alcohol-free bar and arcade called FAUX Bar & Arcade is set to hold its soft opening on June 8. The new concept is located at 123 N. Broad St. in Lancaster

“There aren’t very many adult-centered spaces that don’t revolve around alcohol,” FAUX owner Emmett Collins told 614Now. “Seeing how dependent the adult social life is on drinking, we wanted to provide a space where that need, or even that temptation to those who need to avoid it, is completely off the table.”

Even though alcohol is not served, the new space is only open to those 18 and older.

Described by Collins as “a dry bar with wet flavor,” the concept makes a distinction between mocktails and the “non-alcoholic cocktails” it serves.

“We don’t sub out spirits for juices and syrups. We source spirits, beers, and wines that have gone through a  de-alcoholization process,” Collins said. “This means you get the heart of the drink and most of its characteristics but without the hangover.”

In addition to drinks, the 2,000 square foot space also provides nearly endless entertainment for guests. Those who pay the $5 cover charge have access to FAUX’s 200 tabletop games (and they’re also welcome to bring their own DnD campaigns), in addition to vintage billiards board and six—soon to be seven—classic arcade game machine.

“We want to be a safe space for all. This means those refraining from alcohol, those in marginalized communities, those practicing religious beliefs, and much more,” Collins said. “Here we leave our problems at the door and just enjoy in the moment.  So come on down and be sure to follow along for all of our upcoming events.”
