Anticipated conveyor belt sushi bar is opening soon in Columbus

Sav McKee

Back in April, it was announced that a popular sushi restaurant with multiple locations around the world was finally making their debut in Columbus. Since then, people have been anticipating its arrival.

It looks like we won’t have to wait much longer, though. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar posted on their social media that they’re “COMING VERY SOON,” and Kura’s Account Coordinator, Kevin Phildor confirmed that Kura is holding their soft opening Saturday, January 13th, and their Grand Opening on Sunday, January 14th. From the 13th to the 15th, they’ll have special hours from 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM only.

Kura will be located at 8833 Lyra Dr., making this the first-ever Ohio location. The concept involves a revolving conveyor belt that holds a variety of dishes and sushi options, and belt revolves around the diners’ tables. You can simply grab whatever you want off the line, being charged around $3.50 for each small plate. There’s also an “Express Belt” option, where patrons can order items directly from their menu.

This revolving sushi bar chain first opened in Japan in 1977, then opened in the US in 2008. They now operate more than 500 locations between Japan, Taiwan, and the United States.
