Award-winning Columbus coffee roaster bringing first physical cafe to Grandview

Royal Flamingo Coffee has already proven itself across some of the most prestigious coffee competitions in the world, and now the award-winning local roasters are showing central Ohio what they can do, up close and personal.

The coffee company is planning to open its first-ever cafe space inside of I Like It Like That, the new bar in Natalie’s Grandview.

According to Bryan Brzozowski, who owns Royal Flamingo alongside partner Beth Brzozowski, the new cafe space will operate as a coffee shop by day, before transitioning into a bar (I Like it Like That) in the evening hours.

The cafe, which is currently slated to open in April or early May, will likely be open first on weekends, with the gradual rollout of a weekday schedule coming later.

“Our physical roastery shares space with Natalie’s. That’s how we met them, and we bring them coffee from time to time,” Bryan Brzozowski told 614Now.

The Columbus coffee roaster also noted his excitement to work with the Natalie’s team. “I’m so excited to partner with Natalie’s. They’re all super talented. To be part of that ecosystem, it’s win-win for us,”’ Brzozowski said.

Royal Flamingo first opened in 2021, and recently claimed the silver medal in the filter category at the Golden Bean World Series. The company already has a sizable client base online, and for Bryan Brzozowski, the brick and mortar represents a chance to let his city know what the company can do. He noted it will focus primarily on speciality coffee, with an emphasis on filter brew, pour over and espresso (although milk drinks and more will also be available).

“I want to show people how great we’re roasting, and being able to do it in our hometown, I can’t wait,” he said. “I’m considering [the new cafe] my toyground, being able to bring beautiful coffee to Columbus. I just want to get those cups into people’s hands.”
