Best you’ve never heard of: The strip mall pasta spot that will blow your mind
When you’re here, you’re family—but for real. This relaxed, family-run Italian restaurant serves up an authentic Old World Italian menu that’s small but mighty, featuring pasta, classic chicken and veal entrées, desserts, and a great wine selection.
It’s not Olive Garden we’re talking about—it’s long-standing Columbus Italian eatery, Pasqualone’s Ristorante, located at 5766 Emporium Square.
Truly a hidden gem in an unassuming North Side strip mall, once inside, you’re transported to a magical space. Picture black linen tablecloths, a beautiful mural, romantic lighting, and a welcoming aesthetic. The service is warm and friendly, creating great vibes and ambiance. Since 2005, owners David and Lori Pasqualone have been serving Columbus their authentic Italian feasts. Their artisan menu is made with imported ingredients and inspired by David’s family recipes from central Italy.

Be sure to ask your server about the specials, but from the main menu, I recommend:
Veal Meatball: Anytime I go to an Italian restaurant, I have to try their meatballs. At Pasqualone’s, you’ll be glad you did. This tender meatball is packed full of flavor, stuffed with fresh bocconcini and capicola, and topped with house-made marinara.
Pasta Dinners: Choose from Spaghetti, Penne, Gnocchi, or Ricotta Cavatelli with House Red Sauce—a delicious marinara with fresh sautéed vegetables and herbs in imported olive oil. Or try the Amatriciana Sauce, a mildly spicy mix of fresh tomatoes, sautéed onion, habanero peppers, and herbs. They also have alfredo sauce available for their tortellini.
Lasagna: My favorite pasta is their lasagna, layered with a generous serving of braised pork shoulder, ricotta, asiago, provolone, mozzarella, romano, and parmesan cheeses.
Chicken Parmigiano: I haven’t tried their veal yet, but I can vouch for the Chicken Parmigiano. A large boneless chicken breast, lightly breaded to order, juicy and crispy, sautéed in imported olive oil, and topped with their house red sauce, provolone, and parmesan cheeses. I love that all their dishes come with a fresh garden salad and Italian bread. Pair these items with your favorite wine and have yourself a time.
Life is full of pasta-bilities—which under-the-radar spot should we go to next?
