Brewpub announces sudden closure after 5 years of opening, effective immediately
Effective Tuesday, October 29, a Cincinnati brewpub is closing their Columbus location within five years of first opening here.
Taft’s Brewporium, the 5,800 square feet space boasting another 2,000 square feet of patio located at 440 W. Broad St., announced their sudden closure via Facebook.
“We are very sad to announce the closure of Taft’s Brewpourium Columbus, effective immediately. We came to Columbus with a lot of excitement to share our beer and pizza, and we were truly welcomed by all with open arms,” the post reads.

Taft’s first opened in the Franklinton-based Gravity building in November 2019, quickly becoming a local favorite for the 16 different house drafts and delicious New Haven-style, coal-fired pizza.
While one of Taft’s breweries is still operating in the Cincinnati area, the Over-the-Rhine brewpub also closed last fall.
We’ll keep you updated on the new tenant moving into the space.
Taft’s leaves us with a heartfelt goodbye: “We want to wholeheartedly thank our friends, loyal patrons, and the city of Columbus for all the love and support the past few years,” their Facebook post says. “More than anything, we’d like to thank our amazing team. They are a group of hard-working, compassionate and spirited people – much like the city of Columbus. We’ve gathered and shared a list of job openings throughout the city, but please do reach out to us (comment here or send us a message) if you know of a local bar or restaurant hiring. We’d love the opportunity to refer our incredibly talented team members.”
