Cocktail bar permanently shutters within three months of opening

“We have closed! It was fun for a minute,” said a newer, but now-closed cocktail bar’s social media page.

Grand Tavern opened in November of last year at 1111 W. 1st Ave. in Grandview. After almost three months of slinging whiskey sours and brats, they shut their doors, mostly due to disagreements with the landlord, according to owner Andrea Spence. Matt Marshall, the landlord, had no comment on the matter.

“I liked the spot, I liked the neighborhood, but I walked away,” she said.

Spence explained that it isn’t over for Grand Tavern yet, though. “I’d like to take the liquor license and open somewhere else.”
