Columbus baker known for wedding cakes, cupcakes, calling it quits

Before the end of the year, Columbus will have one less wedding cake bakery to patronize.

According to a social media post by owner Sarah Martinez from earlier this week, the Westerville-based home bakery Sweet Sarah’s, will no longer accept orders.

“I’ve mulled over this for months and am finally at peace with my decision. Sweet Sarah’s will no longer accept orders after Oct. 31,” the post reads, noting that all orders already placed will still be fulfilled.

Martinez noted that running her own business has affected the balance of her personal life. 

While Sweet Sarah’s, which is known for wedding cakes and creative cupcakes, is halting operations currently, Martinez said she’s not sure what the future will hold, and didn’t rule out a return to baking.

“I’m not sure if this is the end of my baking journey but I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished and am excited for new adventures,” the post reads.
