Columbus-launched fast food brand went from 800 stores to only 2; Now a new Ohio location is on the way

In the 1970s, the fast food seafood brand Arthur Treacher’s operated as many as 800 locations across the country. While only two remain today, a third is now opening in Ohio.

While it won’t be in Columbus, Arthur Treacher’s is opening a new location in Cleveland Heights.

The new eatery will be located in at 13216 Cedar Rd.

Known for fried fish and hushpuppies, the once-popular brand began in Columbus in 1969. One of its founding investors was Dave Thomas, who would later go on to start Wendy’s.

Today, Arthur Treacher’s operates two stores, both of which are in northeastern Ohio. One is located in Cleveland, and the other located in Cuyahoga Falls.
