Columbus pizzeria leaving Olde Towne East space; New concept from local restaurateurs taking over

Mikey’s Late Night Slice is saying goodbye to its Olde Towne East pizzeria, but a new eatery will open in its place.

According to Brad Hobbs, managing co-partner of multiple Columbus concepts, including Pecan Penny’s Bar-B-Q, The Walrus Kitchen & Public House, Olde Towne Tavern and more, he and his fellow co-partners will be setting up shop at 892 Oak St., which currently houses Mikey’s Last Night Slice on the first floor and The Attic Comedy Club on the second.

Mikey Soboro, owner of Mikey’s Late Night Slice, confirmed the move, noting it was time for the pizzeria to “pass the torch.” Mikey’s, which will remain at the Oak Street restaurant until June 26, is launching multiple new locations in the near future, including a pair of eateries replacing both former Weenie Wonder storefronts.

The Attic will remain open throughout these changes, with no interruption in business.

“Hopefully it doesn’t feel like a change,” Hobbs said of The Attic’s ownership transition.

Hobbs said he and his partners aren’t ready to release what the new concept taking over the first floor space will be, but he noted they’re aiming for a fall opening.

“We started in 2012. The Olde Towne Tavern was our first business. We owe so much to that community,” Hobbs said. “With all the turnover that’s been there, we decided we needed to step up and do what’s right for the neighborhood.”

The space has formerly been home to The Angry Baker, Yellow Brick Pizza and more.
