Dressing for Success: 614 feast picks his top 5 ranch dressings in Columbus

Anthony O'Connell

Ranch dressing is a polarizing condiment with a delicious, unforgettable flavor. I love it in all its creamy varieties—traditional, buttermilk, and flavored ranch. I enjoy a runny, liquidy ranch as much as a super thick one; I just prefer it made in-house and the ramekin filled to the top. It’s interesting how such a simple recipe can taste so different from place to place. Here are my favorite restaurant ranch dressings in Columbus.

JT’s Pizza (2390 W Granville Rd)

One of the best ranch dressings I’ve ever had, it’s rich, decadent, and made in-house. Thankfully, you can buy all of their housemade dressings by the jar. Order the Chicken Bacon Ranchpizza and Extra Hot wings, and dip the pizza in the side of ranch dressing for an extra dose—you’ll need it because the wings are spicy.

Roosters (multiple) Roosters is a dipper’s dream come true. Their housemade ranch is rich, velvety, and luxurious. If you really want to party, order their Dumpster Dressing which is their spicy ranch dressing. Roosters ranch goes great on pretty much anything, even by itself, but my go-tos are the Traditional WingsFried Pickles, and Cheesy Bacon Tots

Highbank Distillery (multiple) Their tangy, almost refreshing house-made ranch is a must-try. I love dipping their mouthwatering wings into the traditional house-made ranch. For heat seekers, the spicy ranch adds just the right kick to their Southwest Salad, but it also makes a perfect dip on the side.

Harvest Pizza (multiple) Locally sourced and house-made, their buttermilk ranch is so good I usually order two. Its versatile flavor and pourable consistency make it perfect for coating their Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and pairing with their artisan woodfired pizzas, especially the Plain Pepperoni Pizza, it’s a major feast.

Pat and Gracie’s (multiple) Their house-made ranch is smooth, slightly dense, and well-seasoned, making it a perfect match for their Buffalo WingsFried BB Pickles, and Chicken Tenders.

I love ranch dressing so much that when I was in college, I used to ask my friends if they dared me to drink the side of ranch dressing as a joke because I secretly wanted to take a sip. How much do you love ranch?
