Cool, unique rooftop bar is coming to this central Ohio historic district

“This is the only time I get to speak as a developer and resident, simultaneously,” emphasized Matt Davis, owner of COhatch.

Davis, who’s lived in Powell for the past twenty years, is helping the city with their plans to revitalize the community’s historic district. “It means a lot to me,” he said.

And what energizes a city better than a rooftop bar?

On the corner of North Liberty and East Olentangy streets, at 50 E. Olentangy St., Davis is building a COhatch coworking facility, which will include an incredible rooftop bar – the first of its kind in Powell. The bar will boast electronic, retractable pergolas with heaters, so it can be open all four seasons. You’ll be able to go, and stay, outside permanently.

“You shouldn’t have to go Downtown to have those types of experiences,” Davis explained. His plan is to open the rooftop bar to the public, although COhatch is considered a private, membership based coworking facility. “I like the energy of public settings, and I want a diverse group of people there,” Davis said. But if you happen to be a COhatch member, you’ll get exclusive access to their VIP private booths and areas, plus first consideration for reservations.

The rooftop bar will feature high end, craft cocktails, “which will all be very Instagrammable,” Davis laughed. Plus, wine and some beer, small charcuterie boards, desserts, and small plates. It will be centered around the concept of radical hospitality, and Davis emphasized that the service will be impeccable.

“Selfishly, I’m bringing Powell a space that I want to use, and where all my friends and family would want to go, too,” Davis joked.

Along with the rooftop bar and co-working space, Davis’ partnership with Powell will hopefully help with the traffic congestion and bring new parking opportunities. Davis remarked that he’s excited to help with the redevelopment of the city, and the boosting of their economy.

They’re starting construction soon, and the COhatch space plus the rooftop bar are projected to open in the summer of 2025. We’re already looking forward to it.
