Hibachi chain closes Powell location, replaced by—a new hibachi chain

Jack McLaughlin

While a hibachi restaurant has closed its doors in Powell, it’s been replaced by, well, another place to get hibachi.

Mr. Hibachi shuttered its powell eatery, which was located at 3889 Powell Rd. In its place, Yoshi Yum has launched its third location.

The restaurant opened to the public on Oct. 10. It’s unclear when Mr. Hibachi closed.

While both concepts are regional hibachi chains, they are, in fact, substantially different in their offerings. Mr. Hibachi, which operates six locations in the Columbus area, focuses primarily on hibachi itself, where Yoshi Yum also offers boba tea (in addition to a line of boba-inspired smoothies and slushies), sushi, pho and more.

The new Yoshi Yum location is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
