Local café asks for support; ‘sales are down substantially while costs continue to increase’
There’s only one spot in town that offers delicious marshmallow lattes, a healthy dinner on weeknights, enormous vegan breakfast on the weekends, and a selection of indie books and poetry collections. And they’re asking our community for some help.
Two Dollar Radio, a quaint vegan café known for their scratch-made, in-house meat substitutes, nut cheezes, and sauces, located at 1124 Parsons Ave., released a heartfelt newsletter explaining that they’re being transparent in sharing that “things got tough again.” The newsletter says that in the last six months, sales are down “quite substantially, while costs continue to increase.”
“It’s anxiety-inducing being a small business owner,” stated Eric Obenauf, founder of Two Dollar Radio since 2005. “When times are tough, you take on debt or float what scant savings you have into the business.”

If you appreciate incredible vegan food, great books, excellent coffee, and open poetry/comedy nights, then Two Dollar Radio said it would be great to see you at their cafe.
“And I’d encourage folks to support not just us, but other small businesses you appreciate in your community. It’s a tough game, and I know we cherish the support,” said Obenauf.
Two Dollar Radio offers plant-based lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. From Tuesday – Thursday, 10am-8pm, and until 9pm on Fridays, enjoy vegan burgers, nachos, quesadillas, dips, sandwiches, tacos, and salads. The weekend brunch menu is one of my favorites in Columbus, boasting “egg” wraps, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and even brunch nachos, plus delicious coffee. You can find that brunch menu Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-3pm.
