Local Cbus bar named one of the ‘Best Bars of the Year’ in America by national publication
With a disco-themed cocktail menu featuring a drinkable PB&J, and a “spicy, crunchy, carrot margarita,” plus a plethora of small but delicious snack plates, natural wine, and even Dole Whip, it’s no wonder this local bar has been named one of the “Best Bars of the Year” in the entire country by USA Today. After all, as their giant neon sign inside suggests, they’re “Not Governed by Reason.”
Congrats to none other than Lawbird, located in the Brewery District/German Village corridor at 740 S. High St.! Lawbird placed on USA Today’s esteemed list, selected by their network of food writers across the nation. “These bars represent the best neighborhood taverns, the finest cocktail meccas, the coziest wine bars and the beachiest beach bars,” their website boasts. “These bars are the places we love – a mix of old, new and in-between. They’re places with stories to tell, places that should be on your bucket list when you travel and your favorites list where you live.

Here’s what USA Today had to say about not only one of Columbus’ favorite bars, but the nation’s favorite bars, too:
“As they introduce cocktails with pickled-carrot brine or seaweed-infused mezcal, curate Wednesday night hot dogs with the same finesse as their mixology, and turn into a tiki bar in the middle of an Ohio December, change is the one constant at Law Bird,” said USA Today.
They suggest ordering a mini martini, the Disco Snax cocktail, which is like a peanut butter & jelly in liquid, alcoholic form, a high-end hot dog on Wednesday Hot Dog nights, and snacks like the Furikake Chex Mix.
Owners Annie and Luke Pierce opened Lawbird back in 2019, and ever-since, it’s become one of the coolest hangout spots in Columbus. A sexy playlist, calming ambiance, and bartenders that take creativity above & beyond ensure you enjoy a perfect night out.
Annie Williams Pierce, who started working in the industry at 14 years old at Upper Arlington’s Chef- O-Nette, and eventually became the first woman ever to win the coveted title of Bombay Sapphire’s Most Imaginative Bartender in 2017, emphasized, “To be able to look back from our beginnings right before the COVID pandemic hit and be on the other side of it five years later, we’re just ecstatic that our bar continues resonate with people and makes them happy.”
