Local pizza chain just opened a new, eleventh location; this one serves gelato, too

In 1972, Jack and Yvonne Gorham opened their first pizza shop in a former Coney restaurant in Carroll, Ohio, vowing to always use the finest ingredients available, to treat customers and employees like family, and to always give back to the community.

Their mission proves to have worked, because now, the company, Pizza Cottage, is opening their eleventh location, expanding to 510 S. Main St. in the Mt. Vernon area. This new restaurant has carryout, dine-in, and delivery options, plus a dessert case with specialty cookies and several gelato flavors.

Although the Gorham’s legacy lives on, Larry Tipton, originally from Lancaster, purchased the Pizza Cottage restaurant group in 2017. He also owns 10 Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar locations in Ohio and Arizona, too.

The Mount Vernon expansion marks the fifth new Pizza Cottage opened over the past two years. “The Mount Vernon community asked for a Pizza Cottage, and we’re thankful that we can make their request a reality,” said Tipton in a press release.
