Local shop serves ‘Best Ice Cream in Ohio’ according to national food publication
A gelato shop nestled into a shopping center near downtown Westerville has once again been given the accolade of “Best Ice Cream in the State.”
24/7 Tempo released their best ice cream list in every state in 2024 list, measuring their rankings based on a consideration of ratings and reviews from general interest sites, including Food & Wine, Taste of Home, Reader’s Digest, as well as other numerous, regional sites.
And one ice cream shop in Ohio stood out above the rest. Congrats to Coppa Gelato, located at 925 N. State St. in Westerville for serving the best frozen treats in the state, according to this study.
Coppa Gelato’s delicacies are made in small batches right in the heart of Westerville, slowly churned with less air, creating a creamier and denser frozen option than traditional ice cream. 24/7 Tempo suggests ordering the white chocolate pretzel flavor if it’s available!

The gelateria offers incredibly unique flavors, sometimes rotated daily. Choose from Picnic Lemon Pie, Thin Mint Crunch, Pistachio, Cookies & Milk, Bananas Foster, and so much more. You can also order an affogato, which means adding a shot of espresso over some creamy vanilla gelato. Along with excellent gelato, they serve macarons, cake, espresso drinks, and other desserts.
Coppa Gelato was also ranked #1 Ice Cream Shop in Ohio back in 2019 by USA Today, and also ranked the best ice cream shop in the state by 24/7 Tempo last year, too. They first opened in 2014, and they’ve been getting praises for their outstanding gelato ever since.
