National cafe chain featuring spiced coffee, Yemeni pastries opening first Ohio location today

The Yemeni coffee boom in Columbus doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Qahwah House Coffee–a Michigan-based chain serving Yemeni-style coffee and pastries–has opened its first-ever Ohio location today.

“Qahwah House, the nation’s first premium Yemeni coffee shop chain, is excited to announce the opening of their first location in Ohio. Bringing their signature Middle Eastern coffee culture to Columbus, the new shop will open its doors this Friday, June 14, at 2 p.m.,” a statement posted to the concept’s social media pages reads.

The new coffee shop is located at 189 E. Main St. The concept also operates storefronts in Michigan and New York.

Patrons can grab drinks like Mofawar (coffee with cardamom and cream) and Qishr (coffee served with coffee husks, ginger and cinnamon), in addition to their authentic Yemeni pastries, such as Sabaya, which is made with layers of dough and topped with Yemeni brown butter.
