Neighborhood Burger Battle Saga: 614feast picks the best Southeast burgers
The burger battle rolls on, and this week I’m feasting my way through southeast Columbus and the surrounding area. As always, I pass on the lettuce (texture issues, you know), but I’ll list it here for menu accuracy. Now, lettuce get into my favorite burgers on the southeast side!
Flavor 91 Bistro (5186 E Main St., Whitehall)
One of the best burgers in Ohio, The Flavor Burger, is a 4.5oz grass-fed beef patty seasoned Ethiopian-style, topped with pepper jack cheese, spicy flavor sauce, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Don’t sleep on their lamb and black bean burgers either—they’re just as amazing.
Harvest Moon Craft Kitchen (7 N. High St., Canal Winchester)
This charming counter-service café specializes in organic-leaning dishes. My pick? The Wagyu Burger—a half-pound of wagyu topped with caramelized onion, smoked gouda, lettuce, and rosemary garlic aioli, all on a potato chive roll. It’s a perfectly balanced burger bursting with flavor.

Hangry City Grille and Spirits (1252 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington)
Known for their incredible sliders, you can order 2 or 3 and pair them with parmesan herb fries or tots. Their creative topping combos are just as fun as the slider names. Here’s my lineup:
- The Ron Swanson: deep-fried bacon, fried pickles, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli.
- The Topanga: black bean burger with sriracha aioli, avocado mash, lettuce, tomato.
- The Danny: classic beef with cheddar, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and garlic aioli.
Lovell’s Tavern (4265 Alum Creek Dr.)
This casual hole-in-the-wall serves some seriously delicious bar food. My go-to is the Lucifer—a 7-ounce angus patty topped with jalapeños, bacon, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. For something equally feast-worthy, try the Bacon Bleu, with bacon, blue cheese, lettuce, and tomato piled on a juicy angus patty.
Delaney’s Diner (6150 E .Main St.)
Multiple locations famous for breakfast and fun dishes like the BLT Conewich, Delaney’s also knows how to do burgers right. Their Classic Burger features two 4 oz hand-crushed patties on a fresh bun with shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion. Simply satisfying.
