New Downtown restaurant asks for support amid “slow winter”

A Downtown taco spot is trudging through the long Ohio winter, and has now turned to the Columbus community for help.

Last week, Zachary Martin, owner of House Taco—an eatery that recently relocated from the Ohio Statehouse to 79th S. 4th St.— posted a GoFundMe page seeking money for “staff support” during the winter months.

“I was fortunate enough to open my first brick and mortar in September of 2023. We have been growing and the community loves what we are doing! We have hit slow winter in Downtown Columbus and I need help supporting the staff during the next couple of long winter months,” part of the GoFundMe page reads.

Martin noted that “I have poured everything personally into this business and I have made it this far with out a loan. Loans are not really an option for me so I am seeking community help.”

Currently, the eatery has raised $970 of its $20,000 goal.

House Taco is now open, and offers 3-7 p.m. happy hours and even an upcoming brunch menu.
