A new Shawarma concept has opened its doors to Ohio State students and Columbus residents as a whole.

Shawarma Joe’s held its grand opening yesterday at 10 a.m. The eatery is located at 14 E. 11th Ave.

Due to its location in the University District, the restaurant accepts Buck ID, alongside cash and cards.

Similar to popular concepts like Brassica, Shawarma Joe’s represents a fast-casual take on Mediterranean cuisine. While the eatery does offer sides like falafel, hummus, pita bread, fries and more, it opts for a build-your-own approach to entrees. Patrons start with a bowl, wrap or pita, and then customize it to their liking, adding proteins like chicken or steak shawarma and falafel. They can then decide between veggies, sauces and sides.

Shawarma Joe’s is open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and is closed on Sunday.
