A familiar face in the Columbus craft scene is taking a leap into the unknown with a bold new taproom.

Land-Grant Brewing Co. plans to add its newest taproom, The Extension, at the brewery’s current Franklinton campus later this year. Land-Grant’s taproom today is located at 424 W. Town St., and is known for its expansive outdoor space, alongside igloos and keg curling in the winter.

The Extension, which be situated behind Idea Foundry on W, Chapel St., will be next to Land-Grant’s current home, but the 1,000 square foot space plans to set itself apart with its offerings.

According to a press release, the new taproom will serve as an “epicenter of innovation,” for the craft brewery, featuring “innovative beers incorporating unexpected ingredients to tantalizing wine-beer hybrids and refreshing ready-to-drink draft cocktails.”

The Extension will likely open in May, although an exact date has not been named yet.

“We believe that innovation is the lifeblood of the craft beer community, and The Extension serves as our playground for pushing the envelope and exploring new horizons,” said Walt Keys, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Land-Grant in a press release. “From seasoned connoisseurs to curious newcomers, we invite everyone to join us on this journey of discovery.”
