Powell-based brewery announces opening date of anticipated new Columbus location

After three years of anticipation, the wait is almost over.

About three years ago, Nocterra Brewing Co., a popular Powell-based brewery, announced they would be opening a new spot on the Whittier Peninsula in Columbus’ Brewery District, overlooking the Scioto River and Scioto Audubon Metro Park.

Now, it’s opening this weekend. On Sunday, June 30, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., join Nocterra in celebrating their new space, located at 516 Maier Place. Take a bike ride on the trail close by, a long walk through the surrounding woods, let your dog blow off some steam at the neighboring dog park, or even partake in some rock climbing at the adjacent Bloc Garten rock wall, then cool down with an ice cold beer.

Maybe you’re more of an observer rather than someone who’s in on the action. Windows at Nocterra look right into the rock climbing gym, and spectators can watch what’s going on, and maybe get some inspiration to start climbing themselves!

The 5,000 square foot brewery will also house a full restaurant, which you can’t find at the Powell location. Chef Chris Olexa will be serving up unique Korean, Indonesian, and American meals, as well as a raw bar with rotating oyster selections, and even tuna ceviche. But don’t worry – you can still grab traditional pub, like wings and burgers.

Nocterra said they’re planning on posting their regular operating hours very soon. Stay tuned here!
