The ‘biggest Kurdish restaurant in Columbus’ opens on High Street

Jack McLaughlin

An authentic spot for Kurdish food, coffee and tea has officially opened Downtown.

Silav Cafe & Grill opened to the public on June 15, although its grand opening will take place on Aug. 11. The new restaurant is located at 330 High St.

The eatery is self-described as the “biggest Kurdish restaurant in Columbus.” Kurdish food, in case you aren’t aware, hails from the mountainous region of Western Asia—including parts of Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria—known as Kurdistan.

Silav offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with menu items like falafel, Shwarma, a variety of skewers, naan, chaat salads and more. A handful of inventive Kurdish-inspired options as well, including Breakfast Bombs—buns filled with cream cheese and topped with honey—and Feta Fries.

Additionally, the new restaurant offers hot tea, coffee and Middle Eastern-inspired coffee drinks like a Pistachio Iced Latte.
